KEOLABS proudly announces that its EMVCo Reduced Range (RR) Terminal Analog test tool, designed to verify the compliance of RR devices with the EMV Level 1 Contactless Specification, is the first solution to be qualified by EMVCo
17 September 2024, Montbonnot, FRANCE – The Reduced Range Terminal Test Guidelines enable merchants to accept contactless payments directly on NFC-enabled mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and enterprise tools, without the need for external hardware like a dongle or accessory. Since these devices were not originally built with the same radio frequency capabilities as traditional payment terminals, EMVCo adapted its specifications, reducing the tested operating volume to allow these devices to meet the EMV Level 1 Contactless requirements.
“Our investments in the EMVCo market are substantial,” said Christophe Rabaud, CEO at KEOLABS. “Being the first to achieve this qualification is a clear testament to these efforts. It enables our customers, whether industrial or laboratory, to benefit from a cutting-edge testing tool, giving them a significant competitive advantage.”
As some payment devices require the card to be closer in order to carry out the transaction, EMVCo has defined two testing conditions: RR1, for distances up to 1 cm, and RR2, for distances up to 2 cm. KEOLABS provides the complete test configuration for both conditions, including the scoring tool necessary to generate the statistical results required by EMVCo.
